Sponge cake with hint of chocolate- Slow Cooker Recipe

Yes cake you heard that right cooked in a slow cooker :)!!!! mmmmm yum!!!!

  • Cake Liner ( Brought mine from poundland picture below)
  • 120g Butter
  • 170g Sugar
  • 3 Eggs
  • 300g Plain Flour
  • 1tsp Baking Powder
  • Chocolate Spread

This is the cake liners I have used

Pop one of the cake liner in the bottom of the slow cooker, not all will ft mine sat in a oval shape in there.
Pop the sugar and butter together in a bowl and cream them together. Pop the eggs in one at a time and mix together with the egg and sugar. If using a electric whisk use on medium setting. Next pop the flour and baking powder in the mixture and set the whisk on high and mix the mixture all together the mixture shouldn't be runny but shouldn't be to thick either. Then pour all the mixture into the cake liner. Get a little bit of chocolate spread on a spoon and swirl it all in mixture do this about times and will get the marble effect look.

Can add anything else like some lemon zest in it to if fancy a little change. Next step is to pop a tea towel on the top of slow cooker then put the lid on top the reason for this is to stop condensation dripping down on the cake as that will stop it from rising.

Pop the slow cooker on high and cook for 1 1/2 - 2 hours. Some slow cookers may vary so take a very quick peak when has been about 1 1/2 hours and pop knife through it, if the knife has some on it not done if its clean its done.

Take the cake out once done and pop on a cooling rack once done decorate or leave plan and serve with custard :) ENJOY!!
